Tangaroa is the senior class at Ōrere School. The children in Tangaroa range from year 4 to year 8. The learners of Tangaroa enjoy a relaxed learning environment in which they are encouraged to be individual, creative, out of the box thinkers. Our holistic approach allows learners to develop lifelong skills, values, and morals in a kind, caring, and safe environment. Each learner in Tangaroa has a device with internet access, this allows learners to be more engaged, accommodates for different learning styles and encourages collaboration. Being situated in the beautiful setting of Ōrere Point, the class of Tangaroa enjoy time outside in the fresh air, nature walks and visits down to the waterhole. The small class size allows for learners to form deep and lasting peer relationships, more one-to-one attention, and children have the opportunity to be more engaged. Tangaroa is an ideal environment where learners are given the opportunity to be their best.
